#Compatibility report windows 8 drivers
No changes to underlying Windows drivers were required. It is significantly different in its presentation, but I have found it to be as stable as Windows 7 and capable of running all of my applications with very little adjustment needed. I made the switch for testing purposes and to provide some feedback regarding its suitability for operating my rather complex weather system. This isn't an endorsement of Windows 8 whatsoever. I had to select each folder in Explorer and access them once to enable permissions and then the programs could write thier settings, etc properly. The only issue I had was the access permissions on most of the files that store settings in the /users//AppData/Local (and LocalLow and Roaming) folders. Image Salsa and MovieSalsa - No changes needed, runs fine. I use the XAMPP flavor of MySQL, PHP, Apache. VWS and VWSQL - No changes needed, runs fine.Īpache Web Server - No changes, runs fine. Weather Display, WDmySQL, WDLive - No changes needed, runs fine. The only issue I found was that Win8 reassigned my com port from com1 to com3 so I had to change it in VirtualVP I use the Prolific USB-tp-serial Comm Port. I run VirtualVP using TCP/IP Port assignments for Weather Display, VWS and VVP. SoftWX - both VirtualVP and VPLive run fine. Here are my compatibility comments related to weather station and web publishing: I have installed the latest preview and I am successfully running my site under Windows 8. Windows 8 will be launched on October 25, about 2 weeks from now.
